Hershey Cohen
8 yrs old
Over eight years
ago, I walked into bid-a-wee in Manhattan, with a slight
inclination to take home a pet to care for.
In no less than
one hour I left with a brown and white four month old kitten
that captured my heart. Never mind the fleas choose to ear
mites, runny eyes and stuffy nose. It was love at first
sight.
After a lot of
medical attention and plenty of tender loving care, Hershey
bounced back to become the sweet cuddly, shy kitten that
would eat day and nigh If he were able to! In his short
adult life, Hershey became a dedicated well behaved at
loving cat. His needs were quite simple; play in the
hallway while visiting neighbors, eat as much as possible, a
long brush, and some good cuddling on the couch.
I would like to
think that his life was as happy, comfortable and
uncomplicated as he was.
It was a constant
thrill to come home only to find him waiting at the door for
my attention and affection. That is what makes having a pet
like Hershey so special. Perhaps the saddest loss of all is
no longer being seen through his loving eyes. Hershey will
be terribly missed.
