“Ignat”
We adopted Ignat and LuLu together from a
shelter in September 2008. Ignat was
born in June of 2008. They were a
Birthday present from my husband. Ignat
was very mistrustful at first and withdrawn,
leading us to believe he was abused before
he was rescued. We worked to get him
to come out of hiding everyday. After
about a month he started to play with us and
LuLu and he loved to hug me and sleep
nestled in my arms. He was so calming
and had a beautiful loud purr. He
seemed so healthy and loved to eat wellness
and weruva food. Then mysteriously his
stomach started to get bigger. Dr.
Waltke said that was a serious sign and Dr.
Plotnick said he thought it was FIP.
Sure enough he was right, it was the wet
form and incurable – it was shocking!
Ignat fought nobly though and everyday tried
to eat and drink water, consuming very
little and always remained very sweet and
loving. He flopped into my arms and
passed away right before Christmas.
Our vision of him now is a kitty angel
romping and playing. Although he was
with us for such a short time, we loved him
very much and miss him terribly. Thank
you to everyone at Manhattan Cat Specialists
for your beautiful sympathy card and
sensitive messages along with your help and
understanding.
