PLOTNICK WINS SEVERAL
INTERNATIONAL WRITING AWARDS
(New York,
NY) -- Arnold Plotnick is the recipient of
the international Cat Writers’ Association (CWA)
Muse Medallion™ Award, The Hartz
Glamour-Puss Award, and the Merial
Human-Animal Bond Award. Plotnick was
announced a winner at the 2005 CWA
communication contest awards banquet held
November 19 in Foster City, Calif. as part
of the annual CWA Professional Conference.
The Cat
Writers’ Association Muse Medallion™ Awards
are given to the top entries in 40 contest
categories including newspaper and magazine
articles, books and online publications.
This year, there were over 269 entries in
the contest. Entries are judged by a three
person panel of CWA member judges. Plotnick
won the award for his article about chronic
renal failure in cats, published in CatFancy
magazine.
The Hartz
Glamour-Puss Award, sponsored by Hartz
Mountain Corporation, honors the best entry
on the topic of feline skin and coat care.
Plotnick received the award for his article
“Brush-up on Hair Loss”, published in Catnip
magazine.
Merial
sponsors the Merial Human-Animal Bond Award,
presented to the entry that best reflects
and promotes the strengthening of the
human-animal bond, highlighting the bond
between a cat and its owner, as well as
their relationship with their veterinarian
as another direct caregiver. Plotnick
received the award for his article
describing the special relationship he had
with his cat Ethel who died in September
2004 at the age of 20. The entire story of

Plotnick
is a veterinarian and owner of Manhattan Cat
Specialists, a feline-exclusive veterinary
facility located on Manhattan’s Upper West
Side. He is one of only a handful of
veterinarians in the U.S. that is board
certified in feline medicine. He is a
frequent contributor to CatFancy magazine
and is the medical editor of Catnip
magazine.
The
international Cat Writers’ Association was
founded in 1992 and is dedicated to
