Working with a very limited number of reputable rescue organizations, our hospital obtains kittens (and the occasional adult cat) to be adopted into loving and caring homes. All kittens that arrive here at our hospital are given a thorough physical examination. Each kitten is tested individually for the feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). Each kitten at the Adoption Corner is checked for fleas and ear mites, and treated appropriately if necessary. Fecal examinations are performed on each kitten, and deworming is performed if necessary. Pediatric vaccinations are then administered. The adoption process begins with you filling out our pre-adoption application. You can download this form and then email, fax, or bring it to us at your convenience. Once we receive it, we will carefully evaluate your application, as well as any other applications we receive, and will notify you as to whether the cat or kitten you seek is available. All adopters must meet the cats and speak with our adoption counselor before being approved. Adopters seeking to get a cat as a gift for children are NOT ALLOWED. Manhattan Cat Specialists reserves the right to approve or deny any potential adopter based on their application and interview process.
There is a fee associated with the adoption of our kittens. This fee covers their initial examination, FeLV/FIV test, fecal examination, first deworming, first FVRCP vaccination, second examination, second FVRCP vaccination, second deworming (if necessary), third examination, third FVRCP vaccination, rabies vaccination, microchipping, and spaying or neutering. The adoption fee pays for all of the standard procedures necessary in the kitten’s first six months of life.
PLEASE NOTE: The Adoption Corner At Manhattan Cat Specialists is not a shelter, but rather, a veterinary hospital that hosts adoptable cats from various rescues. We cannot provide that opportunity for members of the public.
